Admission criteria

Bachelor of Business Studies

Subject to the availability of places, the University will admit any applicant it believes can undertake the proposed courses with reasonable prospect of success. In determining an applicant’s prospect for success, the University will consider previous studies and/or other attainments and experience.

For both distance education and internal students these courses are competitive. For internal students there are no special admission requirements specific to these courses.

Admission is according to the standard CSU criteria for undergraduate courses. International applicants must also meet the CSU admission requirements in terms of English language requirements  

Associate Degree in Business Studies

This is an exit point only from the Bachelor of Business Studies.

Diploma of Business Studies

Credit

Bachelor of Business Studies

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Studies are entitled to credits if they have completed applicable Advanced Diplomas and Diplomas offered by Study Group and as approved by the Faculty of Business Faculty Board.

Overseas qualifications will be considered for credit towards the Bachelor of Business Studies degree on individual basis.

Associate Degree in Business Studies

No credit as this is an exit point only from the Bachelor of Business Studies course.

Diploma of Business Studies

Students in the Diploma of Business Studies are not entitled to credit, as the University does not allow credit in Diploma courses.

Graduation requirement

Bachelor of Business Studies

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 192 points.

Associate Degree in Business Studies

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 128 points.

Diploma of Business Studies

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.

Associate Degree in Business Studies - 16 subjects or 128 points

In order to be awarded the Associate Degree in Business Studies from CSU students are required:
• to complete 16 standard subjects or their equivalent (where a standard subject is equal to one eighth of a full-time annual equivalent load);
• to complete at least two thirds of the 16 standard subjects (ie: 11 out of 16 subjects) in business-based or business related discipline areas approved by the Course Co-ordinator, including at least four subjects at Level Two;
• to complete at least one half of the 16 standard subjects (ie: at least 8 subjects) by taking subjects taught by CSU or subjects designated as 'CSU subjects' (ie those subjects offered under affiliation agreements between CSU and external organisations).
• to complete 128 points of business or business related subjects or at least 88 points of business or business related subjects and up to 40 points of free electives

Diploma of Business Studies - 8 subjects or 64 points

In order to be awarded the Diploma of Business Studies from CSU students are required:
• to complete 8 standard subjects or their equivalent (where a standard subject is equal to one eighth of a full-time annual equivalent load);
• to complete at least two thirds of the 8 standard subjects (ie: at least 6 out of 8 subjects) in business-based or business related discipline areas approved by the Course Co-ordinator;
• to complete the 8 standard subjects by taking subjects taught by CSU or subjects designated as 'CSU subjects' (ie: those subjects offered under affiliation agreements between CSU and external organisations),
• to complete 64 points of business or business related subjects or at least 48 points of business or business related subjects and up to 16 points of free electives
NB: No credits are granted for the Diploma of Business Studies.

Bachelor of Business Studies - Integrated program with NSW TAFE Riverina Institute at the Griffith TAFE Campus

Students at Griffith will be granted credit for 12 subjects (96 points) based on TAFE Advanced Diploma in Business Management and will be required to complete 12 Compulsory CSU subjects (96 points).For students at Griffith these requirements will be met as follows.

Bachelor of Business Studies - Integrated program with NSW TAFE Riverina Institute at the Wagga Wagga TAFE Campus

Students will study concurrently at TAFE NSW (Wagga Wagga) and at CSU, commencing with one CSU subject per session in first year, two CSU subjects per session in second year, and three CSU subjects per session in third year, as well as various TAFE modules. TAFE will grant some modules as credit to their students for the study of two CSU subjects (ACC100 and MGT100 ) and CSU will grant credit for twelve subjects (7 unspecified and five specified (MGT210 , MGT290 , HRM210 , INR210 and MKT220 ) for completion of the Advanced Diploma in Business Management. For students at Wagga Wagga these requirements will be met as follows. The following 12 compulsory subjects will be delivered by CSU:

At least two-thirds of the 24 standard subjects in business-based or business-related discipline areas approved by the Course Coordinator, including at least 4 subjects at Level 2 (or its equivalent) and 4 subjects at Level 3 (or its equivalent) 

At least one-third of the 24 standard subjects by taking subjects taught by CSU or subjects designated as CSU subjects (i.e. those subjects offered under affiliation agreements between CSU and external organisations)

Enrolment pattern

Because of the flexibility of the course requirements, there is no prescribed enrolment pattern. Students may choose the order in which they undertake subjects, depending upon the availability of subjects and the meeting of any pre-requisites. It is recommended, however, that students complete level one subjects before completing level two subjects and level two subjects before completing level three subjects.

Articulation

The Diploma and the exit point only Associate Degree form an articulated set of courses with the Bachelor degree, and credit is given in each higher level course for subjects completed in a lower level course in the set.
